Our Next Production

Ms. Julie is an original adaptation of the classical piece, ‘Miss Julie’, written by August Strindberg. Jumping forward nearly a century from its original publication date of 1888, this piece is set in 1985, focusing on the impact of the miners’ strikes coming to a close for both the working and ruling classes. This piece explores class struggle, romanticism and power dynamics.

Set in the underbelly of a mine owner’s countryside estate, we watch closely-guarded dreams and desires begin to come to light over the course of one precious night. In her father’s kitchen, the impulsive and irresistible Miss Julie becomes entangled with her father’s well-read chauffeur, John. While the action of the play takes place, Christine, the head maid and John’s fiancée, has her own discoveries while trying to keep her head down and earn an honest living.
